Véronique Reymond et Stéphanie Chuat, récemment récompensées pour «La petite chambre», collaborent ensemble à la mise en scène de ce roman de près de 400 pages. Les rôles des quatre enfants de six ans sont interprétés par des acteurs adultes, avec force et naïveté. Le récit laisse au spectateur endosser le rôle d’investigateur, en soulignant ce qu’il pourrait deviner au cœur de ce passé troublant et inavoué.

Eh bien chapeau ! Véronique Reymond & Stéphanie Chuat en font un spectacle vivant et touchant. Certes, on met un moment à rentrer dans la convention qu'un adulte sautillant joue un enfant de six ans. Mais une fois dedans, les liens entre les personnages se tissent, l'histoire se densifie et le texte flamboie tant que l'émotion submerge la salle à la fin de la pièce. Sidérée, la salle a attendu plusieurs secondes avant de débuter ses applaudissements si bien mérités.
